UbiPharm Group acquires United Healthcare Distributors and officially establishes its presence in Uganda
Dr. Andy RAMANISA appointed Managing Director of United Healthcare Distributors; Dr. Sowedi MUYINGO becomes Chairman of the Board of Directors.
UbiPharm Group announces the acquisition of a majority stake in United Healthcare Distributors (UHD), a company specialising in logistics, sales and marketing of healthcare products in Uganda. This majority investment officially establishes the Group’s presence in the country and marks a new milestone in its expansion across English-speaking Africa.
By joining the UbiPharm ecosystem, UHD will benefit from the Group’s expertise and synergies in pharmaceutical distribution and supply chain management. In return, UbiPharm will leverage UHD’s extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of the local market. Going forward, UHD will continue to provide manufacturers and suppliers with end-to-end sales, marketing and logistics solutions in Uganda, supported by UbiPharm Group’s regional expertise and pan-African network.
This transaction reflects the Group’s expansion strategy, built on a strong local presence and collaboration with well-established partners. It also embodies UbiPharm Group’s core mission: to help make medicines and healthcare products increasingly accessible and available, closer to the populations of Africa and the French overseas territories.

A governance structure supporting UHD’s growth
Effective July 1, 2026, Dr. Andy RAMANISA has been appointed Managing Director of United Healthcare Distributors.
A pharmacist by training and a graduate of the University of Antananarivo, Dr. Andy RAMANISA joined UbiPharm Group in 2015. He successively held the positions of Operations Manager, Responsible Pharmacist, and Commercial Director at UbiPharm Madagascar before being appointed Managing Director of UbiPharm Rwanda in 2021.
With more than ten years of experience within the Group, he has developed extensive expertise in pharmaceutical distribution and business development across African markets. His experience will be an asset in supporting UHD’s integration and driving its continued growth in Uganda.
As part of this new governance structure, Dr Sowedi MUYINGO, Founder and formerly Managing Director of UHD for the last 20 years, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors.
This new organizational structure ensures managerial continuity, deep market knowledge, and the Group’s expertise.
