Sensitive Raw Materials Management

Strengthing capacity to warehouse sensitive raw materials

Client: Chemical company
Location: Uganda

Challenge

A chemical company faced challenges with the warehousing of temperature-controlled items in Uganda, including limited storage space, poor handling practices of sensitive raw materials leading to contamination, commodity integrity, and limited resources to handle large volumes of consignments. They were also looking for consolidation and centralization of activities and better reporting and visibility.

Solution

  • Utilize Transtar’s grade A, food, and pharma-grade, temperature-controlled facility

  • Adequate material handling equipment and electric forklifts preventing the contamination of commodities

  • Integrity of commodities ensued with weights taken upon arrival and exit of cargo through the onsite weighbridge

  • Reliable security protocols and measures to avert commodity loss or manipulation

  • Use of supply chain tower and system integration to enable real-time reporting and data analytics, as well as inventory and fleet management through SAP – MIRP

  • Quality assurance and management

Results

  • Supply chain integrity achieved from source to client

  • Compliance with government and international standards on food handling

  • Joint planning with pre-arrival information shared with the team
